SERER

SERER is a personal project rooted in my search for identity. With a Senegalese father and Dutch mother, I grew up feeling connected to both cultures but never fully part of either. For years I presented myself as an African artist, yet I realised how little I truly knew about that side of myself.

In 2025 I travelled to Senegal to reconnect with my roots, meet my family and explore the stories and rhythms of the Serer people, my ancestors. That journey became the starting point for SERER. Through music I translate this experience into sound, blending electronic influences with West African traditions.

Alongside the music I created a short film that captures the journey, the encounters and the emotions behind the project. SERER is my way of understanding where I come from and creating space for others who recognise the feeling of being in between worlds.
